What does it all cost?
You are entitled to free representation at the police
station. If your case goes to Court, we will help you
complete an application for legal aid. The majority
of cases we deal with are suitable for free representation,
although this decision is made by the Court, based on
whether they believe the case is suitable.
If legal aid is not granted, we will
be happy to provide a reasonable estimate of our private
fees for any matter.

What should I do if I’m
arrested?
Even if you do not believe you have any case to answer,
it is always best to ask for representation when you
are arrested, and to wait for a legal representative
to arrive before speaking to the police. A situation
that seems simple to begin with can often become more
complicated.
If you are arrested and taken to the
Police Station and ask for Great Western Solicitors,
you will be able to speak to us in person on the telephone.
We can give you some general advice and, if necessary,
we will be happy to come to the Police Station in person
to attend you.

What happens if I need your
help at night / out of office hours?
Great Western Solicitors offer a 24 hour service, which
means there will always be a trained member of our team
on call to help you, night or day, week or weekend.

Will I always have the same
solicitor?
Because of the length of time a case can take to progress
through the legal system, it may be dealt with by one of several
caseworkers. However, all work is carried out under the supervision
of the Partners and in particular of Martin Guyll-Wiggins
who is the Crime Category Supervisor for our firm.
At Court, all appearances are handled by
Martin Guyll-Wiggins, Andrew Hobson, Michaela Rose or Steve
Beale, our solicitors.

How will you let me know if
there are developments in
my case?
Great Western Solicitors is committed to keeping you
up to date with any developments in your case. Usually
we will write to you to confirm any information we have
received, or progress we have been informed about. Where
possible/necessary, we will telephone you to keep you
updated.
